Well folks, I know it is HOT, HOT, HOT outside right now, but believe it or not, we are RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER from the Medicare Annual Election Period that runs from October 15th thru December 7th. This means that you need to watch your email inbox for our annual AEP information request that should start going out at the end of this month. This affects those of you that are on a Medicare Advantage Plan or those that have a Part D Prescription Drug Plan.
Now, what does this mean exactly? It means that we want you to list the doctors that you are currently seeing that are important for you to keep – not necessarily a doctor you saw once or twice 5 years ago, UNLESS having them in your plan’s network is CRITICAL for you. When it comes to prescription medications – we only want those that you get from your local retail or mail-order pharmacy. We don’t need to know about any over the counter medications you take unless they are available as a prescription – some plans will cover these at a lower cost than what you can buy them for over the counter. We also need to know if you are getting ANY of your prescription medications from an alternate source – like Mexico, India, or Canada. If you don’t intend on filling them with your Part D drug plan, you can list them but please include a note that tells us that you fill them elsewhere. We don’t want to base our 2021 plan recommendation on a drug that you don’t fill with your drug plan.
One more VERY important thing… if you are a new Medicare client of ours and your plan has yet to go into effect or has recently begun, we still need you to fill out the form you receive in your email. With over 21,000 clients we have to automate our processes to ensure everyone is taken care of. If you don’t fill out the online form, our research team will not get notified to review your 2021 plan choices. If for some reason you don’t receive an email by the end of September, please call us with the updated information and we will send it to our research team for you. Reviewing your plan choices each year is critical to keeping you in the most appropriate plan for your needs. If you are in the right plan, you will be a happy client… and we LOVE happy clients!
