Medicare is better for 2019

For 2019 there are even more plans to pick from than 2018. Good news – more plans; bad news – more plans. Remember to get with your advisor to ensure you are on the most appropriate plan for 2019. Is your doctor and hospital still on your Medicare Advantage Plan network? Did co-pays change? You will also want to research your Part D drug plan if you have Medicare, Medigap, and a Part D. Premiums, deductibles, and co-pays, as well as the formularies (list of covered medications), change every year.

Some folks with expensive prescription medications will be happy that the coverage gap (doughnut hole) may cost you less!

Medicare Advantage Plans will have increased options to add extra services, like providing meals to folks who were recently released from the hospital and not quite up to cooking for a few days after getting home. Check your plan to see if it will cover some of these new services!

Increased and improved telephone and computer access to a nurse or doctor when you have a question about your health and just want to talk to someone about it without having to go to a medical office.

Caps on the number of treatments may have been eliminated on such medical services as physical, speech, or occupational therapy visits.

Don’t like your Medicare Advantage Plan? Did you know that you have a twelve-month test drive and if you don’t like it you can switch back to original Medicare?
There many more additional details to all the improved services and benefits than what we’ve mentioned here.

We always tell folks there is no such thing as “best” when it comes to your Medicare health coverage. What is best …. is best for you! The annual election period is October 15th through December 7th. If you haven’t checked your plan for 2019, now’s the time!
